Our specific focus is to extract and propagate a clear, personalized signal from all the noise that surrounds us about food choices, diets, nutritional data, and the ever-changing medical advice/counter-advice. We will tailor our recommendations to suit personal dietary needs: whether you’re paleo, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or simply want to “eat healthy.”
People make food decisions all day: what to eat at home, what to snack on at work, where to eat with co-workers at lunch, what to cook for the kids at night – the list is endless. We know that addressing these myriad food choices requires a holistic solution. Initially, we are focusing on a specific use case of dining out that we think will resonate with many people, and what’s more important, serve as a testing ground for whether we can truly cut through the noise and make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Our work is rooted in data and analytics on one end, and community on the other. Harvesting data about food is a big, hard and evergreen problem (all puns intended). There are lots of players – from nutritionists, to chefs, to behavioral scientists to food bloggers – who comprise a worldwide food community, not to mention the rest of us who eat the food and want to tell our friends and the world about it, usually via the camera on our phones. Of course, at the end of the day, we need to present the data and the wisdom of the community in a simple, personalized, engaging, and intuitive interface.
